You don't have to touch the forms — give us your details, licence ID and item list, and for a flat $125 our team completes the paperwork and lodges it with the right registry on your behalf.
01 — The process
How importing works
01 — State police confirmation
Apply to your state or territory firearms registry for B709 confirmation, verifying you are licensed — or exempt — to possess the items before they ship.
02 — Commonwealth permission, where required
Some items — including handguns, assisted or straight-pull actions, speed loaders and magazines over 30 rounds — also need written permission from the Department of Home Affairs via the Australian Government Firearms Portal.
03 — Border clearance
Present the original signed B709 to the Australian Border Force at importation. Without it, customs will not release your goods. Frames and receivers are subject to serial number marking and physical inspection on arrival.
Permission must be granted before the goods arrive — from 22 January 2026 some import requirements changed, and the Australian Border Force can refuse entry to any item.

The fee
$125
One flat fee per application — invoiced after we review your intake and confirm the pathway. Registry, police and border fees are payable to the relevant authority.
Importing firearms, firearm parts, accessories, magazines, paintball markers, ammunition or components into NSW requires B709 confirmation from the NSW Police Force Firearms Registry. Confirmation is only issued where you are authorised to possess the item on a NSW licence or permit.
Process
- 01Hold a NSW licence or permit that authorises possession of the item.
- 02Complete the General Application to Import B709 plus the ancillary form for your item (Category A/B/C, Category H, ammunition, paintball markers or prohibited weapons).
- 03Lodge with the Firearms Registry and await the signed B709 confirmation.
- 04Present the original signed form to the Australian Border Force at the time of importation.
